FGP Peer Mentor Program

The FGP Peer Mentor Program matches first generation freshmen with upperclassmen mentors in order to help students adjust to life at MIT and learn from their mentors’ experience.  Mentor-mentee pairs are expected to meet regularly (2-3 times per term) throughout the academic year and are required to attend one FGP event or program together per semester.

The 2016-2017 Peer Mentor Program will begin with the Peer Mentor Program Launch Meetup, which will take place October 4th. At this event, mentors and mentees will have a chance to meet other participants in the Peer Mentor Program and then submit their preferences about who they would most like to be matched with. Once matches are finalized, pairings will begin meeting in person.

Who should apply?

  • First generation freshmen who would like some guidance from an upper-class MIT student
  • First generation sophomores, juniors, and seniors who think an incoming student could benefit from their experience and support
